Fireworks, Lace, and more

While I did not do much on the fourth of July, I did enjoy the beautiful sunny weather at home and once the sun set I was able to watch hundreds of fireworks set off over the city (we have a great view). It reminded me of the falling stars in Howl's Moving Castle, the way the lights flew up in all colors. Second, I had to share my love of Allison's dress in the finale of America's Next Top Model, All Stars season. Created by Michael Cinco, the combined sweet and sexy of the lace and fit is gorgeous. Lastly, and a complete contradiction, is one of the pieces from Rachel Zoe's collection. I love this double breasted dress, if I ever went to London and decided to blow a couple hundred this would be my pick. Also, I recently discovered the blog of Ashley Madekwe, Ring My Bell, and am loving her effortlessly chic look. Especially how she wears her neon Christian Louboutin's <3
Awaiting the arrival of my leopard Steve Madden sandals. With my new neon yellow pedicure I shall pair them with stylish 70's jeans, a red lip for class, and whatever top I choose.

Floral Finds

My latest find: a floral blazer from BP. I found it while shopping with a friend the other day and now it's got me thinking all about chic blazers and how to wear them. I love the outfit (second picture) with the neon peplum skirt, it's so on-trend. There's also the popular floral on floral and I happen to have a pair of white shorts with blue flowers (2nd picture in my Shorts! post) that will go perfectly. See my set made previously for floral on floral: http://www.polyvore.com/floral_on/set?id=48414741
I also love the idea of a white and black striped blazer for a graphic element to add to a plain black maxi dress. So chic. And of course I had to make it come to life (as much as I could), so I made a set last night: http://www.polyvore.com/be_yourself_everyone_else_is/set?id=52414922
Lastly, I had to throw in a picture I took of my friend, Shana, in the neon pink 5 inch heels I found in the store (I forced her into them for this pic, not her style but so cute on her).

Inspiration

I'm not entirely sure what the theme of this post is supposed to be so I went with the very vague title of Inspiration. I was thinking of designers, people, places, etc. that I go to looking for what's new and never been done before. Remembering Project Runway All Star's winner, Mondo Guerra, and his amazing printed dress, I simply had to add it to this post. His eccentric style somehow works all together even with his numerous prints and colors. Then, quite the opposite, I picked this photo of one of my favorite bloggers (Fashion Toast), because I love her minimalist style. And finally, a little American pride and one of the coolest shoes I've seen by none other than Jeffrey Campbell. So take a risk with a print or a new style, even a crazy shoe... That's kind of a theme, right? Happy 4th of July!

Leopard Love

As I'm a notorious shoe shopper, I'm always looking for the perfect chunky heel or a black leather boot with silver spikes. I think I can say my two favorite brands are Jeffrey Campbell and Steve Madden (and probably Levity, the makers of my white leather sandals). While I know it's not fall yet, I can't resist the perfect suede and thick heel of these Jeffrey Campbell boots (I've read the reviews and it seems I'm not the only one), as well as the coolest leopard sandals and the incredible wood platforms. But every girl needs a good pair of flats and seeing as I really only have one pair I love (I'm a heels person) I decided a little print and slight point-toe would work well with my wardrobe. I can see myself throwing on a loose sweater, dark skinnies, and these flats for the mornings when I'm too tired to try. The only thing left to do is actually order them or wait to buy them in stores. We'll see.

2) Close up
3) Awesome leggings (Urban Outfitters)
4) Close up (lightning and city lights, so cool)

6) Tie dye/Bleached jeans, so comfortable and cute (Forever 21)

9) My favorite new blue blag (Urban Outfitters), the new Teen Vogue, Floral Sunnies (Forever 21), the best Burt's Bees with pomegranate oil, and the best shoes by Levity; they truly go with everything and are officially this season's go-to shoe

I'm planning on making a post with more outfits instead of individual clothes, so check back in a few days. Until then :)

Shorts!

With the season of summer here, I am forced out of my usually black obsessed state of mind and pushed into a world of color. Corals, mints, blues and pinks all scream a more fun and upbeat look which is what I think summer is all about. I want whoever reads this blog to be inspired to try something new and daring and to take something you like and make it your own. One of the best ways to be a little more "out there" is with a kick-ass pair of shorts. Try floral or lace, which have been popular for awhile, or a pair of tribal or leather. Go for bright colors like electric blue and green, or tie dye yellow. My personal favorite shorts trend is ombre and I'm on the hunt for the perfect pair. You can try classic denim ombre or colors like pink and green (they're everywhere at Urban Outfitters). Above are some pictures of my favorite shorts. Downtown Date

I went downtown with one of my best friends yesterday and we had the best time together. We began with Starbucks, went to Buffalo and Shane Co., Powell's, then to sushi for lunch, and spent the rest of the gorgeous sunny day walking from place to place. We went to the waterfront where I got a couple pictures of the water and Mt. Hood across from us. Stay tuned, I'll be uploading some pictures from a recent summer haul as well as showing some sets I made recently on polyvore for trends and future outfits :)
